我看的材料中似乎没有这种暗示，吉托的行为更像是个人行为。如果说谁是刺杀的最大受益人，副总统阿瑟首当其冲。刺杀发生后，阿瑟为了避嫌，一直住在纽约家中，坚决不去华盛顿。即使在加菲尔德因伤不能理事的时候，阿瑟也拒绝了人们请他代理总统职责的要求，直到加菲尔德死后他才名正言顺地“继位”。可见，他还是很怕别人把自己跟刺杀扯上关系。
康克林此人听上去很阴险，实际上也是蛮有理想有追求的，而且是个才子。当然，无论多单纯的人，一进政坛就没法独善其身了。

谢谢！你的建议很好。美国是个高度自治的社会，“帝王将相”的作用比别的国家小得多，大多数变革来自民间，而非政府主导。我写了一些普通人的事，但不够多。以后应该适当增加。
这些年的政治倾向有些极端（极左或极右），很多人不满意。但历史上这样的拉扯很常见。希望纠错机制能发挥作用，使国家不至于偏离主航道。

同时有个建议哈：是不是可以多写一些小人物大影响的事件？不要老围绕总统国会最高法院来写，搞得都有点像中国的帝王将相史了。我觉得美国的生命力和领导力就在于基督信仰和民主自治。
BTW：上帝赐给了美国那么优越的条件，成就了那么多的小概率事件，美国人也基本上没有辜负昭昭天命。但现在这些年是不是已经有点辜负了呢？
